Commercial Grade Canvas Tents and Camping Accessories
Diamantina Camping Equipment is proud to announce a partnership with Campmor Outdoor to be the exclusive Australian distributors of the Campmor range of quality canvas tents and accessories. This range of gear was formerly known in Australia under the Serengetti brand. The integrity of the products has not changed, only the name has. This high quality range of products has been manufactured in South Africa since 1995 and offers canvas tents and camping furniture that is of the highest quality. These products represent a passion for innovation and total commitment to excellence bringing you products that you can depend on.
Because, like you we strive for and expect the best, our products are tested out in the real world not in a laboratory.
Only the best materials
The best available fabrics are used after extensive research the world over. The safari range of products is manufactured from ripstop polyamide fabric. A high quality ripstop tenting construction processed using our Dynaproof(r) formulation. It is a poly / cotton base fabric which uses highly twisted 2 ply yarn in both the warp and weft for extreme durability. Cotton base fabric for its breathability characteristics, blended with polyester to add extra strength and durability.
Dynaproof(r) is the name given to our proofing system, the quality of which is without compromise. It is applied by fully immersing the cloth into a padding bath and then drawing the fabric through a Rubber Roller Squeeze Mangle. This process is repeated a second time to ensure total impregnation of the proofing chemicals into the interstices of the fabric. Rather than applying a coating over the top of the fabric that over time may peel off, or experience patches where the film is not totally water tight. The total impregnation process used here ensures the proofing is soaked right through to the core of every fibre, so you receive a fabric that has the best possible protection for many years to come. This technique maximises the durability and performance of both Proofing and Fabric. Dynaproof(r) incorporates U.V. Inhibitors and two rot proofing agents as part of the standard formulation to resist the widest spectrum of activity against fungicidal and algicidal attack.
At the end of the day the fabric used in the construction of these tents is the best. This fabric is also used in Australia for the construction of premium quality camper trailers, and offers supperior resistance to tearing and abrasions, fire retardancy, water resistance, fade resistance, mildew resistance.

In addition, the poles for this range of tents are made using spring steel - super strong - with at least double the wind resistance of polyester dome tents available. The insect screen windows are made using shadecloth again for added strength. Finally only YKK nylon self repairing zips are used and these carry the full Ykk guarantee. The groundsheets on all Campmor quality tents are manufactured from PVC coated polyester, with a weight factor of 550 grams per square metre.
Tried and tested in the desert plains of South Africa, and used extensively by Safari Tour Operators in Africa. If you want a tent that will last the distance, well you've found it.

This range of products can be either used to set up permanent camp sites, or portable camp sites that are used regularly by tour operators who want the best quality and can take constant heavy use. Product Test 1) - The Perfect Storm - Wed 23rd September 2009.

On the night of Tuesday 22nd September Sydney experienced a wind and dust storm like no other in history with flash lightning, up to 9mm of pouring rain, and howling winds gusting up to 95 km per hour measured by the Buro of Meteorology. By 5am on Wednesday morning, Sydney was engulfed in orange dust, blown by 95 km per hour winds carrying thousands of tons of the fine dust from outback Australia, leaving the whole city sky with an eerie orange glow. The airport was closed, Sydney Ferries were shut down and city buildings, homes and cars were covered in orange dust, the likes of which had never been experienced before.
We experienced this storm whilst camping on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour, testing the performance of tents. On Cockatoo Island a total of 75 Campmor Hennie Canvas dome tents were set up. After the storm was over on Wednesday afternoon, an inspection of all 75 tents revealed not one had been damaged in the wind storm. Every tent was still standing. The photo above was taken at 8am on Wednesday morning, whilst the winds were still blowing at more than 50km per hour, and as you can see, every tent is still up. An amazing result given the ferocity of the winds, and the fact that Cockatoo Island camping ground is in a highly exposed location, where the westerly winds roar down Parramatta River. We know of no other tent that could out perform these tents in similar conditions.
This result proves once again the strength and durability of these tents as not only some of the best quality tents in Australia, but the best in the world.
Product Test 2) - Product Performance after 6 months Permanent Set Up
 
 
To test the quality of these tents, we supplied a Campmor Safari Hennie tent to the Management of Cockatoo Island Camping Ground in Sydney Harbour. This tent was left on display permanently for 6 months on the Island, enduring heat, wind and rain conditions. Other tents were also on display to compare their quality and performance. The tents tested included canvas tents, dome tents, and quick set up tents. After 6 months the Campmor Safari Hennie still looked in as new condition, with no signs of fading, or wear and tear. The solid spring steel frame withstood high wind conditions. Some of the other tents tested could not possibly be left up permanently for 6 months, especially polyester dome tents which are not designed to withstand this kind of exposure. Compared to other models (which had broken guy rope slides, faded materials, and signs of stress along seams from wind conditions) it was clear the Campmor Canvas Dome tents are made using superior materials to withstand the harsh Australian climate.
When the winds picked up, the Campmor tents were the clear winner. Whilst other tents rattled and shook, disrupting campers sleep and also causing damage to some tents, the Campmor tents stood firm. Very little movement, no noise, and no damage.

Campmor Serengeti Lodge

A simply magnificent structure offering enormous room inside, expansive ceiling height, and complete with rear ensuite room. This tent is approx 2.8mtrs in the centre height and 1.95 metres in the side height, offering plenty of open air space and ventilation with shadecloth air vents in the tent roof. The structure is complete with an insulating protective flysheet over the whole length, offering a double layer of canvas insulation, and protection from the elements. Ideally designed to create a beautiful living space as shown in the photos.
Please note - there are no guy ropes required to secure this structure to the ground as you can see in the photos. This unique self supporting steel frame is constructed using 45mm thick steel tubing designed to withstand wind strengths far greater than any other tent on the market.
This tent requires a floor area of 8.2 mtrs x 5 mtrs minimum to set it up. This space is made up by three areas within the tent:
1) front awning/ verandah - space is approx 5.5mtrs x 2.2mtrs long.
2) main room of the tent - this in one big room with a fully sewn in floor. This part of the tent hangs off the main frame structure and has straight side walls, then the canvas flysheet fits over the top to create an extra roof layer, the front awning and the rear bathroom. The inner tent has 4 windows (2 either side) and the sewn in floor area of the tent is approx 4 mtrs wide x 5 mtrs deep. This room can be made up to create a luxurious room with a queen size bed and side tables, as well as a sitting bench if desired. Alternatively, this room will fit 2 x double beds comfortably, or up to 12 x single stretcher beds.
3) rear bathroom area - this space is off the back of the main room, there is no floor in this area. The width of this area is wider than the main room as shown in the photos, floor area of approx 5 mtrs wide X 1.8 mtrs. This space can fit a bath, a shower and a toilet if required.
Centre height is approx 2.8mtrs with a side height of approx 1.95mtrs.
* Suitable for the construction of a wooden raised platform, approx 6m x 9m or larger, to allow a verandah around the tent
* The fabric used is 500grm ripstop Australian canvas and 550grm pvc sewn in floor
* All zippers are YKK and carry a lifetme quarantee.

It is made using a heavy duty canvas in green colour and suits a multitude of uses. This tent can be made in a variety of sizes. The model in the photo shows 4 side door entrances on both sides and these doors can be stood up as side awnings. These side doors are 1.4 mtrs wide each, have zippers on both sides, a canvas cover as well as a shadecloth mesh door.

* Category 5 Frame System - wind strength tests have been conducted both within a testing facility and in the field. These tests have been conducted by experts under controlled conditions. Due to variable factors that are unable to be replicated or controlled in each instance (eg wind strength, wind direction, set up consistency, hard or softness of the ground surface, knowledge of the user etc), the same results may not be achieved in all situations. It is not recommended to pitch your tent in extreme weather conditions in excess of 100km per hour winds due to potential damage and safety issues.
